AUGUST LALIBERTY It is heartbreaking that we announce the passing of August Laliberty, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. With his family by his side after a lengthy battle with many health issues August passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2011. Having just celebrated his 80th birthday August was ready to join his wife Joan. August's memory will be cherished by his daughters Judy, Darlene (Bruce), Sharon (Victor) and Gail (Stanley), 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, sisters Jean, Kathy (Ken), brother Rene and many nieces and nephews. August was predeceased by his wife Joan (nee Vicars) on February 22, 1985, as well as his mother Yvonne, father Wilfred, his sister Jeanette and brother Emile. Gus was born August 23, 1931 and grew up in St. Vital. He was employed by Canada Safeway Trucking Department and retired after 32 years of dedicated service. He had earned many safe driving awards during his many years with Safeway. Gus enjoyed family BBQ's, bingo, playing cards and betting the horses. He especially enjoyed trips to Las Vegas with family. His daughters were his life. He always looked forward to the special times spent together. August will always be remembered as a man with so much pride, dignity and strength, a legacy he leaves behind for his family. Celebration of August's life will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2011 in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Avenue West at 1:00 p.m. A private family interment will be held at a later date. The family wishes to extend gratitude to the St. Boniface Hospital Staff in wards 5E and 5B. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association of Canada or a charity of one's choice. Dad, you are back with the love of your life.
